The Ark of the World maintains houses for children aiming to provide protection, care and love to children without any supportive environment.
Our Homes are staffed by expert instructors who, in collaboration with social workers, psychologists and caregivers and armed with patience and love for children, create the appropriate living conditions for every child in the embrace of the Ark of the World.
In our Homes, we welcome every child with unfit or absent family environment, proved by social inquiries and decided by the competent prosecuting and judicial authorities.
Requests originate from prosecution services for children, judicial authorities, social services of municipalities, children’s hospitals, prefectures or other child protection agencies.
The main concern of all of us in the Ark of the World is to stand by the children and give them care, protection and whatever is needed to have a dignified and prudent life as adults. Alongside with instructors and social workers who have undertaken the daily care of the children, Father Antonios is always there with respect, discretion and a lot of love. As the spiritual father of the children, he provides for their proper upbringing every day; he is at their side to guide them, advise them and encourage them, so that the children can feel safe and unravel their potential.
The boys’ Home is located in Athens, at Kolonos, and has been operating since 2009.
It accommodates 30 boys aged 5 to 18 years, who have the joy of growing up in a home of care, security and hope.
Our home was named after an icon of the Saint Mary holding baby Jesus. Just like Saint Mary holds baby Jesus in her arms, our home is a huge embrace for all children in need of our care and comfort.
Children follow the daily education and activities schedule. They attend schools in the area, private tuition for school subjects and foreign languages etc. At the same time, they take part in sports and artistic activities, while their schedule does not lack games, recreational activities, excursions, vacations etc.
For our homes, resources to meet the needs of the children come from private initiatives and offerings made by our fellow people, while no state subsidy has been planned. Our efforts to continuously improve the circumstances of the children are intensifying and your support is necessary and valuable.
